The agenda of Lagos state is to be an investors’ hub for agriculture in Nigeria. This was stated by the Lagos state commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya.
She mentioned that the land was blessed with Agriculture as one of the key forces to rebrand Lagos as an investment destination of Nigeria.

The commissioner spoke at the graduation of the Lagos APPEALS Project Women and Youth Empowerment Programme for persons living with Disability and Special Needs.
She said, “It is pertinent to note that the present administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is exploring and investing in the use of technology to create competitive advantage in ensuring that Lagos attains a 21st-century economy. Gone are the days of our forefathers when agriculture depended solely on cutlasses, hoes, and nature.
“As little as our land is, we want to produce significantly more crops per acre, improve quantity and quality of produce. One of the mandates of the APPEALS Project is to ensure that climate smart and nutrition sensitive technologies are introduced and adopted by farmers in the State.”
She encouraged the graduands to approach the grant elements of the APPEALS Project by creating feasible investment plans that will make them financially dependent and employers of Labour.

The Lagos state project coordinator of the APPEALS project, Mrs. Oluranti Sagoe-Oviebo, encouraged the people with disabilities and special needs on the possibility of achieving success in Life despite their physical challenge.
Also, the National project coordinator, APPEALS project, Mohammed Sani Jobdi, commended the Governor of Lagos state, his deputy, and the entire State Executive Council for their faithful commitment to APPEALS project in Lagos state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hakeem Adeniji, said the programme is a unique one in which persons with Disability and Special Needs are trained in Agriculture activities and also equipped to be Agripreneurs.
He applauded all the graduates for their participation in the great project and encouraged them to make maximum use of the training to improve their lives and that of their families.
The graduands received their certificates and appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu and Lagos APPEAL Project for empowering People with Disability and Special Needs in their programmes, they promised to put everything learned to use.
The training was focused on Aquaculture, Poultry and Rice production.
The graduate trainees we’re 165 in total and comprising of Six Clusters- dead, blind, physically challenged, dwarf, albino and Cerebral palsy.
